"God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshipers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation…Therefore let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose."

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Get out of the way!

The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life conducted a study recently.  Fox News  is reporting that nearly half of all Americans change their religious beliefs (Read the story here)

So I started wondering:  Why all this moving around?  Are they discontent?  Was there a scandal?  Did they get bored?  Lazy? I don’t think so.

I think what it comes down to is that in many of our religious institutions (churches, colleges, small groups), we have put people above God.  I truly believe that many seek God and his direction for their lives everyday, but they constantly run into people first.  They need to find God, not people playing god.

Here’s what I say…..Get out of God’s way!  If you insist on chaining yourself to the Gospel, you are slowing it down.
