"God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshipers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation…Therefore let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose."

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

For the Least of These

The two or three of you who read my posts with any consistency will recognize that God has been working on me with regard to the orphan crisis around the world, as well as the vast number of poor world wide.  In the same way, He is working on my wife, specifically with regard to people without adequate food in our surrounding community.   This is still unfolding and has been for some time now.

A few weeks ago I read a post by Katie at Amazima.  I linked to it in an earlier blog as well.  At the end of the post she talked about a message she heard by Dr. David Platt at Brook Hills Church in Birmingham, AL.  There are actually eight messages there.  These messages will be life changing if you go and listen to them.

I would encourage you find your way to the Brook Hills site or look them up on iTunes.  I don’t see how God won’t use these messages to really work on you if you will just listen to them.

You can get notes to use as you follow along and there is a way to begin a small group and work through the series with others from your group or church, but before you worry about that, please take some time to get the series and start listening.   Where God leads you from there only He knows.
